Bargaining the Next CBA Last fall we signed a one-year agreement with B-ESD. The time has come to bargain a new contract. You will receive a Member Survey so you can direct us. Your values, your concerns, and your knowledge will drive our bargains. It is important that we hear from all of you. Most important, take time to include your own stories, and your own solutions, on the survey. Tell us about your personal experiences so we can represent your voice at the table. Provide specific language you would like to see in the contract. We will continue to build a contract that is good for teaching and learning, that protects our rights, and that attracts and retains high-quality educators. Your bargaining team: B-EEA Gives Over $4,000 B-EEA continues to give to causes that reflect our values—support our community, help those in need, and encourage educational and career pursuits. We gave a total of $4,190.00 to local food banks, Adopt a Family, Read Across America, and B-EEA scholarships to graduates pursuing post-high school education. We understand the difficult times we are in. More importantly, we understand how important it is to invest in our communities and our children. Thank you for your generosity. |
What’s at Stake—Collective Bargaining Worker’s rights are under attack. Wisconsin, Idaho, Ohio, Michigan, Louisiana...Some states have gutted worker’s rights. Others are waging hostile, anti-union campaigns. In Olympia, Washington state legislators are jumping on the anti-union bandwagon. Checks and balances are under attack. Teaching and Learning, and our rights, are under attack. In these difficult financial times, blame and cost are disproportionately attacking unions and education. Deep cuts to investment in education are a daily refrain in Olympia. “Reform,” a powerful notion, is wielded recklessly to further agendas that have little understanding or regard for what we truly do for our kids every day. What action matters? Write, call, and e-mail your representatives in Olympia. When they hear from you, they are empowered to act. When they hear from you, they know how their actions are harming education, are misguided attacks on the middle class. Keep in Touch Keep up with B-EEA communications, find an electronic copy of your contract, and contact union representatives through B-EEA’s web site. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact your building reps (Find out who your building reps are at the b-eea Website). Richard Glick Cameron Munro
